What AI support agents charge per resolution, and what to check about "resolved"

Vendor list prices read on 12 October 2026, the arithmetic for a small inbox and the one question to ask about what counts as resolved.

The list prices

These are each vendor's own prices as read on 12 October 2026, in the currency shown. Plans change, so confirm them on the vendor's page.

  • Intercom Fin: US$0.99 per outcome (resolution, procedure handoff, disqualification or self-serve routing); US$29 per Intercom seat; US$49 a month minimum, including 50 outcomes, on other help desks (qualification is priced separately).
  • Chatbase: US$40, US$150 or US$500 a month for 700, 4,000 or 15,000 message credits.
  • Tidio: Free, then from US$24.17 a month; Plus from US$300 plus usage; Premium by quote; Lyro add-on from US$32.50 for 50 conversations.
  • Zendesk: GBP 1.30 per automated resolution on commitment, or US$2.00 pay as you go.
  • Gorgias: US$0.90 on annual billing, or US$1.00 per automated interaction.

A small inbox, worked through

This is arithmetic, not a forecast. A shop with 200 tickets a month where half are resolved automatically would pay about US$100 a month at US$1 per resolution. A price of about a pound or a dollar per resolution is cheap until the count is wrong.

Ask what counts as resolved

A community member on the Intercom forum wrote that they were paying for many more resolved issues than they could see. Intercom defines a resolution as no further help being requested after Fin's last answer; ask whether that matches what you would call resolved.

Ask each vendor how a conversation becomes resolved, whether silence counts and how you can audit the ones you are billed for. Tidio's Premium tier advertises a guaranteed 50% resolution rate; treat any such figure as the vendor's claim, not a result you can expect.
