Job ad-spend-and-conversion-anomaly-alerts-to-a-named-owner · revised 12 October 2026
Hear when ad spend jumps or conversions stop, with the numbers
When spend, clicks or conversions leave a band against the same-weekday baseline, a named person gets one plain alert with the numbers. We change no bids, budgets or campaigns.
You might be seeing
- A bill is much higher than expected
- Conversions drop to zero and the account looks fine
No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.
What usually happened
Ad spend can jump and conversions can stop without anyone watching. Google offers free alert scripts and built-in anomaly detection, but they need setting up and tuning, and an alert that reaches nobody is no alert. A tool that pauses campaigns alone can stop good spend.
Who it’s for: Owner or marketing manager who does not watch the ad account daily.
Usually starts when: A budget ran away or tracking stopped, and nobody noticed for days.
The result: When spend, clicks or conversions leave the agreed band against the same-weekday baseline, a named person gets one plain-English alert with the numbers and a link. We change no bids, budgets or campaigns.

How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
The bands are set from the first 60 days of history. On the last 30 days, which are not used to set them, each past incident you name in that period raises an alert, and so does each of 3 changes your person seeds into an exported copy without telling us where. This is a smoke test of the bands; it is not a promise about future alerts.
Evidence: The replay table, with the days that set the bands and the days that tested them marked.
False alerts in the 30-day test period stay under the agreed monthly cap.
Evidence: The alert count per month.
A live test alert reaches the owner and the backup.
Evidence: The two received alerts.
An attempt to edit a campaign with our access fails.
Evidence: The platform's refusal.
Sign-off. You re-run the test yourself, check the list of severe errors and sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.
If it fails. If the agreed pass mark is not met, we say so, hand over the results and the failures, and do not call the output working. You do not pay for this scope; we agree whether to stop or re-quote.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- Read-only access to the ad account, or to an analytics property with Google Ads linked if you want spend alerts
- At least 90 days of history
- A named owner and a backup who can receive alerts
We stop and tell you if
- You want automatic pausing
- The account has too few conversions for a band; we then alert on spend only
- Read-only access is refused
What could go wrong
You switch the alerts off and revoke the read-only user. We changed nothing in your account.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| The alert is ignored or missed | It reaches a named owner and a backup, and a live test proves it. |
| Too many false alerts | A cap per month is agreed and the replay reports the count. |
| Data arrives late | The alert says the data time. Google Ads data can be up to 3 hours late and standard GA4 data 24 to 48 hours late, so this is not real-time cover. |
A separate automated reviewer checks the replay results and the alert wording before hand-over, and no person on our side reviews unless your agreement names one. Your named owner decides what to do after an alert. At launch the work is largely automated, and we say so.
How we deliver
We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.
- Agree the metrics, the bands, the owner, the backup and the false-alert cap
- Set up read-only access and confirm an edit attempt fails
- Build the alert on a copy; set the bands from the first 60 days
- Replay the last 30 days, which did not set the bands
- Send a live test alert to the owner and the backup
- Independent automated review of the replay and the alert wording
- Hand over the rules; you switch the alerts on
This is a one-off job, not a subscription or emergency cover. We confirm eligibility, price, a start window and a delivery date before you accept, and work starts only after agreed inputs and access are in place. Nothing is sent to your customers, merged, posted or changed in your live systems by us (the only messages are the test alerts to the owner and backup you name), and an enquiry creates no charge or booking.
Need to keep it working?
Discuss a monthly check that the bands still fit your spend.
Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.
Mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.
What you can check
This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.
Other ways to get this done
- Google's free anomaly script and GA4's built-in anomaly detection cover part of this. Try them first; this job adds the bands, the backup owner and the replay evidence. developers.google.com
Questions
Will it pause my campaigns?
Never. It alerts a person.
Why pay when Google has a free script?
You may not need to. This job adds the bands, a backup owner and the replay evidence.
Is it real-time?
No. Google Ads data can be up to 3 hours late and standard GA4 data 24 to 48 hours late.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- Which account or property and which metrics matter
- Incidents you remember in the last 90 days
- Who should hear first and who is the backup
Later, once you agree
- A read-only user you can revoke
- The agreed bands and the false-alert cap
- A secure handoff route agreed before any access
You keep the account. We use a read-only level that cannot edit campaigns, and we prove that an edit attempt fails.
