Job shopify-merchant-brand-identifier · revised 9 October 2026
Fix Shopify products rejected for missing brand identifiers
The agreed products submit truthful brand and identifier fields and show no brand/identifier errors in the next Merchant Center item diagnostic; Google approval is not guaranteed.
You might be seeing
- Products appear in Shopify but Merchant Center says brand or identifier is invalid
- The same item has conflicting brand values in feed and structured data
No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.
What usually happened
An agreed set of physical Shopify products is sent to Merchant Center with a missing, false or conflicting brand/identifier value; Google then disapproves those products even though Shopify pages are live.
Who it’s for: Store owner whose Shopify products appear on their own store but are rejected in Google Merchant Center.
Usually starts when: Merchant Center flags missing or invalid brand data for an agreed set of products.
The result: The agreed products submit truthful brand and identifier fields and show no brand/identifier errors in the next Merchant Center item diagnostic; Google approval is not guaranteed.

Checks you can run yourself
Open one item diagnostic
In Merchant Center, choose one disapproved item and note its issue type and submitted brand.
Look for: If the issue is account-level policy, this fixed item job is not appropriate.
What you get
- Before/after item diagnostics and an owner-editable mapping table
- Change list for Shopify fields and applicable feed setting
Included
- Map brand and GTIN/MPN inputs for at most ten named products
- Correct Shopify product metadata or feed mapping and recheck item-level diagnostics
Not included
- Google policy suspension appeals or guaranteed reinstatement
- Inventing GTINs, product brands or reviews
- Google Ads campaign management
- Changing unrelated collections or all catalogue items
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
Each agreed item submits the owner-confirmed brand/identifier values after the next feed refresh
Evidence: Merchant Center before/after item detail with IDs redacted
After Merchant Center processes the refreshed feed, every named item has no original brand/identifier error. A pending refresh or a remaining identifier error is not a pass; unrelated policy decisions stay outside this scope.
Evidence: Dated item diagnostic for each named item after processing, paired with the owner-approved identifier mapping.
Sign-off. You sign off after the refreshed feed has been processed and all named items pass the original brand/identifier check. Pending processing is not completion; Google may still reject an item for an unrelated policy reason.
If it fails. If the agreed test fails, you do not pay for this fixed scope. We hand over the findings and agree whether to stop or re-quote; no surprise work.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- Owner knows each item’s actual manufacturer/brand or can state it has no identifier
- Owner has Merchant Center item diagnostics and access to Shopify product fields
We stop and tell you if
- Merchant Center cites account-level misrepresentation rather than brand identifiers
- The brand or identifier cannot be verified from packaging or supplier data
What could go wrong
Keep the previous code or configuration on a named test copy. The handover lists every change and its reverse; live database changes or external effects require a separate owner-approved plan.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| False product identifiers mislead buyers or violate policy | Never generate identifiers; ask the owner for manufacturer proof. |
| Google review remains pending despite corrected feed | Wait for processed per-item diagnostics showing the original identifier error has cleared for every agreed item. Pending processing is not sign-off. This does not guarantee Google's wider policy approval. |
An independent reviewer checks the specific data, payment and permission risks, the redacted test result and whether the owner can safely reverse the change.
How we deliver
We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.
- Record exact item-level rejection and truthful supplier identifier
- Fix Shopify field/structured data or the supported feed mapping for ten products only
- Resubmit and compare item diagnostics after processing; independent review for false-identifier risk
- Hand over the reviewed change, evidence and reversal steps; the owner controls the live switch.
This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, the total price, a start window and a delivery date before you accept. Work starts only after agreed inputs, secure access, any licences and necessary permissions are in place. Hosting, platform and supplier charges are excluded unless the written quote includes them. No charge or booking is created by an enquiry.
Need to keep it working?
For a changing product range, discuss scheduled feed diagnostics and validation of newly added product identifiers.
Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.
Explore an ongoing engineering lane, or mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.
What you can check
This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.
Other ways to get this done
- Ask the original platform or app vendor whether its support can fix this under your existing plan.
- If someone already maintains this system for you, ask them to test this exact failure on a copy first.
Questions
Will this make all my Shopping ads run?
No. It fixes one attribute error on a capped set of products; other policy and ad issues remain separate.
Can you add a made-up GTIN to pass validation?
No. We only submit identifiers you can verify.
Start with an email
Send us
- Redacted Merchant Center error and ten affected product URLs
- Current brand/vendor and any actual GTIN/MPN values
Later, once you agree
- Owner-controlled test product export and scoped store/catalogue access
- Merchant Center diagnostics without advertising spend access
- A company-controlled secure handoff agreed before access: no live passwords, keys, private code or customer records by ordinary email.
You keep the store, feed and Merchant Center accounts. We prepare a field-by-field change on an export, then your authorised account holder applies and submits it. We review the processed item diagnostics before sign-off; no advertising spend or made-up identifiers are authorised.
