Project

Rebuild your brochure site's page templates so your team edits content, not layout

Rebuild up to six page templates on an existing WordPress brochure site, with editable content areas, brand styles and the same web addresses, accepted by a trial edit and a rehearsed switch-back.

This asks for a proposal by email. Nothing is charged, and nothing starts, until you have agreed the scope, the price and the terms in writing.

The result you are buying

A brochure site built page by page has layout mixed into content, so each edit risks breaking the design. A set of page templates with clear editable areas separates the two, but rebuilding them has to keep the content, the addresses and the forms working.

Who it’s for: Owner or marketing lead of a small-business WordPress site whose pages were built page by page and are hard to keep consistent.

Usually starts when: Every page looks slightly different, a small change means editing many pages, or only one person dares to change anything.

The result: Up to six page templates exist on your site with named editable areas and one shared set of colours, fonts and spacing; your existing pages use them, your addresses are unchanged, and an editor you name changes text and images in a trial without touching layout.

How the work fits together

You approve each template, an editor you name completes the trial edit, and you accept the finished set. Component jobs, if added, are accepted on their own checks.

  1. Move edits made inside a WordPress theme into a child theme, so updates stop erasing them Job First

Find every change made directly in a parent theme, move it into a child theme, and prove on staging that it works with the current parent, then the updated one, and can be switched back.

Required first when the theme was edited directly; the intake asks

Required before this project when edits were made inside the theme itself, so the templates survive updates. Bought at its listed price; not included in the project price.

  2. Make your WordPress form notification emails arrive, through authenticated sending Job Each time it fires

Set up authenticated sending for up to three forms on one WordPress site, so notification emails come from your domain, and prove each one reaches the agreed mailbox.

If the contact template's form needs fixing

Offered when the form on the contact template does not deliver.

  3. Map every old address to its new one and clean up canonicals after a WordPress restructure Job Each time it fires

Build a tested map for up to 300 old addresses on one WordPress domain, each to one new address, remove chains and correct canonical addresses and the sitemap in the SEO plugin settings.

Only if any address must change

  4. Add a second language to up to ten named pages on your WordPress site, set up correctly Job Optional

Set up one added language for up to ten pages, the menu and footer with separate addresses, a language switcher and matching language tags, using text you supply.

A separate job if the templates must also exist in a second language.

How an engagement works

The price covers up to six templates and the agreed page list only. More templates or page designs are quoted separately.

How it starts

  1. You send the site address, the templates you want and your brand material.

  2. We review the site, propose the six templates and give a fixed price in writing.

  3. You agree the templates, price and terms in writing. Nothing starts before then.

  4. We build on a staging copy and send each template for approval.

  5. Your editor does the trial edit, we rehearse the switch and switch-back on staging, you accept, your site holder takes and test-restores a backup, and then switches live from our checklist.

Who decides what

You approve the look of each template and accept the set. Your site holder takes the backup and makes the live switch on its own gates.

Handover

The templates, styles, page table, screenshots, editor guide and the export of the earlier page content arrive together, with the live checklist and the switch-back steps.

Sharing your product safely. Send descriptions, brand files and the page list, never logins. After you agree the project, share a staging copy through the agreed handoff.

What is included, and what is not

  • The six templates and the shared styles on a staging copy
  • Before and after screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone width
  • A table of each existing page, the template it used before and the template it now uses
  • An export of each listed page's earlier content and a record of the earlier theme settings, handed to you with the rest
  • The editor guide
  • The live switch checklist, the content freeze it needs and the switch-back steps, rehearsed on staging

Included

  • One single WordPress site and up to six templates, such as home, a service page, about, contact, the posts list and a single post
  • Using the pages' existing content in the new templates
  • One shared set of colours, fonts, spacing and buttons agreed from your brand material
  • Named editable areas for text, images and calls to action in each template
  • Checking forms, menus and addresses after the rebuild
  • A written editor guide and a trial edit by your named editor
  • A staged cutover: the build and the move of existing pages happen on staging, the live switch follows a written checklist during a short content freeze, and the switch-back is rehearsed on staging first

Not included

  • New page designs beyond the six templates, logos or photography
  • Copywriting
  • A shop, booking system or membership area
  • Migrating to a new host or domain
  • Search ranking guarantees
  • Paid theme or builder licences

How we know it’s done

Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.

  1. Each of the six templates is approved by you from screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone width

Evidence: Your recorded approval for each template

  2. Every existing page on the agreed list uses its mapped template and shows its original content, and the main forms and menus work

Evidence: The page table and a before and after comparison for each page

  3. Your named editor changes text and an image in each template using only the editor guide, without touching layout settings, and the page remains correct

Evidence: A record of the trial edit and screenshots

  4. Every web address on the agreed list returns the same status as before the rebuild, or has an agreed redirect

Evidence: A status check of each address before and after

  5. On staging, after the switch-back steps are run, every page on the agreed list is on its earlier template and matches its recorded earlier content and appearance

Evidence: The page table with the earlier template per page and side-by-side screenshots before the rebuild and after the switch-back

Sign-off. You approve each template, accept the trial edit and the rehearsed switch-back, and then accept the finished set after your site holder takes a test-restored backup and switches it live from the checklist.

If it fails. A template we cannot deliver to the agreed criteria is named with the reason and what it would take, and the price is adjusted. Nothing is billed as delivered that you have not accepted.

When it fits, and when we stop

It fits when

  • An existing single WordPress site with a staging copy
  • You can give brand material: logo, colours, fonts and two or three sites you like
  • A named person can approve the look of each template and run the trial edit
  • Your site holder takes a full files-and-database backup before the live switch and has tried restoring it onto the staging copy or another non-public location
  • If anyone edited files inside the current theme directly, the child-theme job is done first or is in the agreed project list, because templates built in an edited theme would be lost at the next theme update

We stop and tell you if

  • The site is a shop or has complex custom features that the templates would break
  • No staging copy can be made
  • There is no brand material and no one to decide on the look
  • The theme cannot be changed and no child theme is possible
  • The theme was edited directly and the child-theme job is not agreed
  • No full files-and-database backup can be taken and restored before the live switch
  • The site is a multisite network, which is quoted separately

What could go wrong

The restore point is the full backup your site holder takes and test-restores before the live switch. The switch changes which templates the pages use. Switching back puts each listed page on its earlier template and restores its earlier content from the export in the handover, which we rehearse on staging first. The page table records the earlier template for every page, and you hold the export and the earlier theme settings record.

Scroll the table sideways to read it all.

RiskHow we handle it
Existing content is lost or reformatted badly when moved into templatesWe move pages on staging, compare each before and after, and hand you an export of each listed page's earlier content.
Content created on the live site during the build is overwritten when the new version goes liveThe live switch follows a written checklist during a short content freeze, page by page from the page table; no staging database is copied over the live site.
Web addresses change and visitors land on not-found pagesAddresses stay as they are; if any must change, the redirect job is added and tested first.
Templates look right on the staging pages but break on content you add laterThe trial edit uses new content from your editor, and we test long text, missing images and a phone width.
The live switch goes wrong and the earlier pages cannot be restoredA test-restored backup exists first, the export of earlier content is in your hands, and the switch-back has been rehearsed on staging.

Each template is reviewed separately from the work that produced it, and you approve every one. No human supervisor is included unless your proposal names one. At launch the work is largely automated, and we say so.

Stays with a person

  • You approve each template
  • Your site holder switches the templates live

Access we would need

  • A staging copy and a staging admin login

Questions

Will my web addresses change?

Not as part of this project. If a template change would force one, we tell you first and add the redirect job.

Do I need a new theme?

Not necessarily. We build the templates in your current theme or page editor if it supports them, and say plainly if it does not.

Who writes the text?

You do. We move your existing text and images into the templates.

What if something goes wrong when it goes live?

Your site holder takes a backup first and test-restores it, you hold an export of the earlier page content, and the switch-back has been rehearsed on staging, so the earlier pages can be put back.

What if the theme was edited directly?

Then the child-theme job comes first, at its listed price, because templates built in an edited theme would be lost at the next theme update.

Send an enquiry

Send us

  • The site address and the list of its pages
  • The six templates you think you need
  • Your brand material and examples you like
  • The theme and page editor in use, and any edits made directly in the theme
  • Who approves the design and who will edit afterwards

Later, once you agree

  • A staging copy and an admin login to it
  • Brand files, copy and images the pages already use
  • A named approver and a named editor for the trial
  • Your site holder's written confirmation, before the live switch, that a full files-and-database backup exists and has been restored once onto a non-public copy
  • A company-controlled secure handoff agreed before access: no live passwords, keys, private code or customer records by ordinary email.

You keep the live site and all content. We build on a staging copy; your site holder takes the backup and switches the templates live from our checklist.
