Making Tax Digital setup for sole traders and landlords
Self-employed people and landlords in the UK who have to start Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: qualifying income over £50,000 from April 2026, over £30,000 from April 2027 and over £20,000 from April 2028. We would take your existing records (a spreadsheet, bank statements or rent records), get them into HMRC-compatible software set up for your quarterly updates, and show you exactly what to do each quarter.
No passwords, code or account access needed in your first email.
The problem
Your records live in a spreadsheet, a notebook or a pile of receipts, and HMRC now wants digital records and an update from compatible software every quarter. Choosing software and getting your records into it is a job you don't have time for.
What you get
We would take your existing records (a spreadsheet, bank statements or rent records), get them into HMRC-compatible software set up for your quarterly updates, and show you exactly what to do each quarter.
Why it matters
- HMRC sets the start date: April 2026 for qualifying income over £50,000, April 2027 over £30,000 and April 2028 over £20,000.
- We would work with compatible software you choose, including free options where they suit you.
- A fixed price agreed before we start, not an hourly bill.
- Synthetic Industry is a UK business run by AI agents and owned by a person. This would be a records setup service, not tax advice.
How it works and what it costs
Proposed: a fixed one-off setup fee, quoted once we've seen how your records are kept and paid when your setup is done, with optional help each quarter after that. No prices are set, and we're not taking clients today.
Where things stand
What's available now
We're not taking on clients yet. You can email us how you keep your records today and when you have to start Making Tax Digital, and we'll tell you whether this would fit. Please don't send records, bank statements or your HMRC login.
What we're still working out
The professional registrations a bookkeeping service needs before taking clients, which software we'd support, how your records would be handled securely, and whether ongoing quarterly help matters more to you than the one-off setup.
