Job cms-blog-csv-import-with-field-mapping · revised 11 October 2026
Import up to 200 blog posts from a CSV into your Webflow or Wix CMS, every field mapped
Up to 200 posts from a spreadsheet land in one Webflow or Wix CMS collection, each column mapped to its field and checked row by row, without overwriting anything by accident.
You might be seeing
- Imported items have blank fields, wrong dates or missing images
- A field that held content before is empty after the import
- The item count does not match the number of rows, or items are duplicated
No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.
What usually happened
A CMS import matches your column headings to field names and writes the rows in, but it does not check what the content means. Dates in the wrong format, headings that match nothing, text that does not suit the field, image links that are not files and a missing identifier are accepted silently or fail without naming a row, and on Wix a field with no matching column is emptied by the import.
Who it’s for: Owner or editor with posts, listings or resources in a spreadsheet who needs them in the Webflow or Wix CMS without retyping them.
Usually starts when: You are about to import a spreadsheet of posts, or an earlier import left blank fields, wrong dates, missing images or fields that used to hold content.
The result: The collection holds exactly one item for each approved row, every column is mapped to its field, dates and true or false values read correctly, and a row-by-row check sheet shows no difference from the spreadsheet.
Check whether this job fits
Answer these without sending the spreadsheet. Nothing is submitted unless you choose to contact us.
Checks you can run yourself
Open the file in a plain text editor
Open the CSV in a plain text editor, not a spreadsheet, and read the first three lines.
Look for: Commas between values, one heading per column, and dates written one way throughout. Anything else needs cleaning first.
What you get
- The mapping table and the cleaned CSV
- A check sheet comparing every row with the item it became
- A list of the items or fields that need manual completion, and the steps for it
Included
- One spreadsheet of up to 200 rows imported into one Webflow or Wix CMS collection
- Cleaning the file for import: comma-delimited, UTF-8, one heading per column, date format, unique slugs or identifiers, rich text as the builder expects
- A mapping table from every column to a field, approved by you, tested on a copy or a test collection first
- A final import once, then a row-by-row check and a list of fields the importer cannot fill, such as files
Not included
- Writing, rewriting or editing the post text
- Exports from other platforms that are not already in a spreadsheet; see the site move project
- Online-store products, which use their own import
- Redirects for the old addresses, which are a separate job
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
The collection holds exactly as many new items as there are approved rows, none missing and none duplicated.
Evidence: A list of every row with the address or ID of its item.
A comparison of titles, slugs and dates across all rows between the file and the collection shows no difference.
Evidence: The check sheet with a match marked on every row.
Twenty rows you choose have their text, images and links compared on screen with the spreadsheet and match.
Evidence: Screenshots of those twenty items beside the spreadsheet rows.
Five sampled dates and any true or false fields read correctly, with no one-day shift.
Evidence: The sample table with expected and shown values.
Sign-off. You open the collection, check twenty rows of your choice against the spreadsheet and sign off before payment. Your account holder publishes.
If it fails. If the agreed checks fail, you do not pay for this fixed scope. We hand over the findings and agree whether to stop or re-quote; no surprise work.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- You have a spreadsheet you are entitled to publish, with no more than 200 rows
- The target is a Webflow or Wix CMS collection, or its fields can be created from the mapping
- Any collection the rows refer to already has its items
- On Webflow, your site plan's CMS item limit has room for the rows plus any items already in the collection
We stop and tell you if
- The rows refer to items that do not exist yet and cannot be created first
- The file exceeds the builder's CSV limit and cannot sensibly be split
- The content cannot be published, for example it holds personal data you have no right to publish
- On Webflow, the plan's CMS item limit is below the number of rows plus existing items and the plan will not change
What could go wrong
Wix creates a backup at each import, and in either builder the exported collection kept in the handover lets you restore what was there. Imported items can be deleted as a group.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| An import empties a field that held content. | We export the collection first, map every existing field and test on a copy before the final import. |
| Dates shift by a day because of time zone or format. | The date format is set in the mapping and five sampled dates are checked item by item. |
| Duplicates appear if an import is repeated. | The final import is run once, and the item count is checked against the row count. |
An independent reviewer checks the redacted before and after evidence, the list of changes and the way back, and looks separately at anything that touches customer data, payments or logins, before you see the result.
How we deliver
We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.
- Agree the builder, collection, spreadsheet, row count and who approves the mapping in writing
- Export the existing collection if it holds items, and clean the file for the builder's import rules
- Write the mapping table and import into a copy or test collection first
- Check every row, correct the file and map, then run the final import once
- Have a separate reviewer compare the collection with the spreadsheet row by row
- Hand over the cleaned file, the mapping, the check sheet and the manual-completion list
This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, the total price, a start window and a delivery date before you accept. Work starts only after agreed inputs, secure access and necessary permissions are in place. Builder plan, app, domain and payment-provider charges are yours and are excluded unless the written quote includes them. No charge or booking is created by an enquiry.
Need to keep it working?
If you have thousands of rows or recurring imports, ask for a separate quote.
Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.
Explore an ongoing engineering lane, or mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.
What you can check
This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.
Other ways to get this done
- Wix's import article explains the mapping screen and file limits if you want to try the import yourself. support.wix.com
- Webflow's help article on importing CMS content covers header matching and reference fields. help.webflow.com
Questions
Will the import overwrite my existing items?
Not by accident. We export first, test on a copy and map every existing field. The mapping is yours to approve before the final import.
Can you fix typos in my posts?
No. We import what the spreadsheet holds. Editing the text is outside this job.
What about images?
Wix imports image and document fields only from files already in its media manager. Webflow imports Image and Multi-image fields from direct public image URLs, without responsive variants, but never fills File fields. Whatever the importer cannot fill is listed with the steps to complete it.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- The builder, the collection name, and the headings of your spreadsheet with two example rows
- The number of rows and which columns hold dates, images or links to other items
- Whether the collection already has items you must not lose
Later, once you agree
- Builder access at the role named in the access section, set up by you and removable at any time
- The full spreadsheet, with personal data removed unless it is meant to be published
- Your approval of the mapping table before the final import
You keep the live site, the builder account, the domain and all customer data. Access is agreed with you in writing before any work starts, and no work starts until it is. Any access we use is through a company-controlled account, never a personal login. The role depends on the builder. Webflow: the Designer or Site manager role, on a paid full seat in your Workspace (or a guest invitation, which Webflow allows only to a Freelancer or Agency Workspace), because the import runs from the CMS panel in the Designer and can add fields to a Collection. Wix: the Website Manager role; Wix's import article does not say which role can import, so we confirm that in your dashboard before quoting. Your plan must have room for the rows: Webflow says the number of items you can import depends on your site plan. We name the exact role and any seat or plan charge in the quote before you invite anyone; those charges are yours. You can remove our access at any time. No passwords or payment details go by ordinary email, and your authorised account holder publishes the final change.
