Job community-spam-and-abuse-queue-with-rules-you-approve · revised 12 October 2026

Hold spam, scam links and abuse in a queue by rules you approve, with no automatic bans

Spam, scam-link, abuse and off-topic posts go to a hold queue by rules you approved. No one is banned automatically and a moderator can release any post in one step.

You might be seeing

  • Scam links stay up for hours
  • Volunteer moderators cannot cover every time zone
  • A past filter blocked genuine members

No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.

What usually happened

Spam and abuse reach members before a volunteer moderator sees them, and filters that act alone block genuine posts. Members who are wrongly blocked leave.

Who it’s for: Founder or community lead running a forum or Discord where spam and abuse reach members before moderators see them.

Usually starts when: Scam links appear overnight, moderators are volunteers, and a heavy-handed filter has already blocked a real member.

The result: Spam, scam-link, abuse and off-topic posts go to a hold queue by rules you approved, using the platform's own tools. Every hold shows the rule, no one is banned automatically and a moderator releases a held post in one step.

What you get

  • The rule set as configured in the test space
  • The appeal path text
  • The 200-post results
  • The moderator release note

Included

  • One community on one platform, using its own rule and hold-queue tools
  • A rule set you approve, with an appeal path
  • A test on 200 labelled posts in a test space
  • A release step that takes a moderator one action

Not included

  • Automatic bans or removal of members
  • Judging whether content is illegal
  • Child-safety moderation
  • Live moderation by us
  • Duties under platform or national online-safety law, which are yours

How we know it’s done

Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.

  1. Of 100 labelled spam or abuse posts, at least 90 are held (90 of 100, which shows a true pass rate of at least 83% with 95% confidence); 70 of the 200 posts are chosen by your lead and unseen by us until the final run.

Evidence: The 200-post table with the held-back marker.

  2. No more than 2 of 100 benign posts are held.

Evidence: The list of held benign posts with the rule that held each.

  3. No member is banned or removed by the rules, and a moderator releases a held post in one step.

Evidence: The rule list and a recording of one release.

  4. Every hold shows the rule that caused it, and the appeal path text names who to contact and by when.

Evidence: A sample of 20 holds and the appeal path text.

Sign-off. Your lead moderator reads the results and the false-hold list and you sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.

If it fails. If more than 2 benign posts in 100 are still held after one retest, we hand over the rules and the open items and you decide whether to loosen them or stop.

When it fits, and when we stop

It fits when

  • The platform allows custom rules and a hold queue
  • A moderator role on a test space, held by you
  • A moderator releases held posts

We stop and tell you if

  • You want automatic banning
  • You want legal-content judgements or child-safety moderation
  • The platform has no hold queue or custom rules

What could go wrong

The rules are tested in a test space. Your live community is unchanged until you apply them, and removing the rules restores the old behaviour.

Scroll the table sideways to read it all.

RiskHow we handle it
A genuine member's post is heldNo more than 2 of 100 benign posts may be held and every hold is released in one step with the rule shown.
A rule bans someoneNo ban rule is built; holds only, and a moderator decides every ban.
The queue becomes a backlogThe rule set is sized to your moderators' hours and the report shows held posts per day in the test.
Post text carries instructionsPost text is untrusted and the rules have no tools beyond holding.

A separate automated reviewer checks the rules, the 200 results and the release step before hand-over, and your lead moderator on your side marks the sample and decides what goes live. No human supervisor is included unless your agreement names one. At launch the work is largely automated, and we say so.

How we deliver

We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.

  • Agree the rules, appeal path and the severe-error list in writing
  • Configure the rules on the platform's own tools in a test space
  • Run the 200 labelled posts and record every hold and release
  • Check each hold shows its rule and releases in one step
  • Independent automated review; your lead checks 20 holds
  • Hand over the rules for you to apply to the live community

This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, the total price, a start window and a delivery date before you accept. Work starts only after agreed inputs, secure access and any needed permissions are in place. Model usage for our build and tests is included in the price; charges on your own platform account, including per-conversation fees after go-live, are yours. An enquiry creates no charge or booking.

Need to keep it working?

Discuss a monthly re-test of the rules on fresh labelled posts.

Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.

Mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.

What you can check

This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.

Other ways to get this done

  • Switch on your platform's built-in spam filter and new-member post limits first. They are free and often enough.

Questions

Will it ban spammers?

No. It holds posts for a moderator. A person decides every ban.

Does it make my community legally safe?

No. Duties under online-safety law are yours, and we do not judge legal content.

Could it block a real member?

It could. The test counts those cases, and a moderator releases any post in one step.

Send an enquiry

Send us

  • The community platform and its size
  • The kinds of spam and abuse you see
  • Who moderates and when
  • No customer data, logins or keys in the first enquiry

Later, once you agree

  • A test space with a moderator role for us that you create and can revoke
  • Your approved rules and appeal path
  • 200 labelled posts, 70 of them chosen by your lead and unseen by us until the final run

You keep the community and every login. We work in a test space with a moderator role you create and can revoke, and never moderate your live community. You apply the rules yourself.

A public HTTPS link only, without login details, query strings or fragments. No code or logs.

Sending emails your enquiry and contact address to our team through our mail provider (Resend). It is not kept in a website database. Do not send passwords, keys, recovery links, confidential code or customer records. Your contact email is unverified; nothing is ordered, charged or reserved. Privacy notice.
