Standing service

Get each month's report commentary written, with every number proved from the tables

Each month your report gains a short commentary where every figure comes from a computed table and a script proves it. Causes appear only if you supplied them in the reasons file.

This starts a conversation by email. Nothing is charged, and nothing is run, until we have agreed scope, data route and terms with you in writing.

The responsibility you hand over

A commentary written by a model reads well and can be wrong in a way nobody sees until it is printed. A wrong figure or an invented cause slips past a quick read. Every month needs the same trace check, or the first bad month undoes the trust.

Who it’s for: Operations lead or finance manager who writes the 'what changed' paragraph by hand every month.

Usually starts when: The commentary takes an afternoon each month, and last month's text quoted a stale figure.

The result: Every month your report gains a short commentary in which every figure is copied from a computed table and a script proves it. No cause is stated unless it is in your reasons file. The trace table and the checker output come with it, and a corrupted export makes the check fail.

What stays true, and what we do about it

No response-time guarantee is published for this new service. A date for each month's report is agreed in writing before it starts, set to what a service at this stage can keep.

Runs once a month after the sample arrives. At launch the service is not staffed round the clock.

What must remain true

  • Every numeral in each month's commentary matches a computed value under the stated rounding
  • No cause is stated unless your reasons file supplied it

What we watch

  • The month's export
  • Your reasons file

When something happens

Scroll the table sideways to read it all.

WhenWhat we do
A month closes and the export arrives. We compute the tables, write the commentary, run the checker and return all of it to you.
The checker finds a numeral that does not match. We fix the text or refuse to return it, and say so in the note.
The export changes shape. We stop, report what changed and ask you before going on.

We do on our own

  • Compute the tables and the top movers
  • Write the commentary from the tables
  • Run the checker

We ask you first

  • Any change to the wording rules or thresholds
  • Stating any cause not in the reasons file
  • Any request for wider access, for a login or for your provider key

We escalate to you when

  • The checker fails after a fix
  • The export changes shape
  • A figure moves by more than the threshold you set

How you know it held. Each month the trace table lists every number in the text beside its table cell, and the checker output shows zero unmatched numerals.

How we keep it true

This service is never finished. Each month's report shows whether the thing it watches stayed true, and it continues until you end it.

  1. Add the paragraph of commentary to my monthly report, and prove every number in it Job Optional

Your existing report gains a short commentary where every figure is copied from a computed table and a script proves it. No cause is stated unless you supplied it.

Bought separately; not part of the monthly fee

The one-off job that builds the commentary template and the checker this service runs each month.

What is included, and what is not

  • The month's commentary
  • The trace table
  • The checker output
  • The top-movers list
  • A note of anything odd in the export

Included

  • One repeatable export of up to six tables, set up by our one-off job or by you
  • A monthly commentary and top-movers list in the agreed style
  • A trace table and the checker output for the month
  • Your reasons file, updated by you before each run
  • A note of anything odd in the export

Not included

  • Forecasts, advice or board narrative
  • Stating a cause you did not supply
  • An export that changes shape without notice
  • Sending the report to anyone
  • Personal data

How we know it’s done

Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.

  1. Each month's commentary has zero unmatched numerals against the computed tables.

    Evidence: The checker output.

  2. Causal words appear only where the reasons file gives the reason.

Evidence: A script search against the reasons file.

  3. A corrupted export that you make (swapped columns, blank month, sign flip) and we do not see beforehand makes the check fail or the text refuse, tested once at the start.

Evidence: The corrupted export you made and the result.

Sign-off. You read each report and tell us whether the marks and rules still suit you. A month counts as delivered when you have received the report.

If it fails. If we cannot run a month because a sample is missing or has changed shape, we say so, explain what we need and do not guess. If the service is not working for you, you can end it at the end of any month.

When it fits, and when we stop

It fits when

  • A repeatable export with the same shape each month
  • A named person reads the commentary before it goes out
  • You keep a reasons file, even if short
  • The tables hold no personal data

We stop and tell you if

  • The export changes shape month to month
  • You want causes worked out instead of supplied
  • The tables hold personal data that cannot be removed
  • You want the commentary sent by us

What could go wrong

The service reads samples and writes reports, so there is nothing to undo. Ending it leaves your systems exactly as they are; you keep every report we sent.

Scroll the table sideways to read it all.

RiskHow we handle it
A fluent sentence over-claims.Words such as strong follow listed thresholds, and a word outside the list fails the check.
A new month's export is subtly different.A shape check runs first, and a changed export stops the run.
Your files go to a model provider outside your control. Before any file is shared we name the provider, its country and its retention terms in writing. Entry jobs run on redacted, synthetic or public copies, or on your own provider account with a key you hold.

A separate automated reviewer checks each month's trace table and checker output before hand-over. A named person on your side reads each month's draft and signs off. No person on our side is included unless your agreement names one, and at launch the work is largely automated.

Stays with a person

  • You or your named person accept every report and every change to a rule, mark or setting
  • You apply anything the report suggests in your own systems

Access we would need

  • Redacted, synthetic or public samples you send each month by an agreed secure route
  • Your labels for the monthly sample

Questions

Does the AI work out the numbers?

No. Numbers come from code. A model helps with wording only.

Can it say why sales moved?

Only if you gave a reason in the reasons file.

Do I need the one-off job first?

Not if you already have a repeatable export and a checker that passes the corrupted-export test. If you have neither, the one-off job builds them and is bought separately.

Send an enquiry

Send us

  • Which report, how often, and how many tables
  • A past commentary with personal data removed
  • No real records, personal data or credentials in the first enquiry

Later, once you agree

  • Each month's export by an agreed secure route
  • Your reasons file for the month
  • A named person who reads the draft
  • A written cap on model usage

You keep your report and every decision. We work on the export you send each month by an agreed secure route, return the commentary and checks, and delete our copies at the end of each month. We send nothing to anyone.
