Job store-catalogue-translation-with-glossary-and-reader-check · revised 12 October 2026
Translate your product descriptions into one language, checked by a native reader
Up to 100 products translated into one language using your glossary, with script checks for terms and markup and a native reader you name scoring a 40-snippet sample.
You might be seeing
- The same product term is translated three ways
- Translated pages show broken tags or leftover English
No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.
What usually happened
Quick machine translation is fast but inconsistent: terms change between products, tags and placeholders break, and unusual phrases slip through. Nobody checks the result until a customer in that language complains. Wording about returns and taxes is the riskiest to leave unchecked.
Who it’s for: Owner of a store that wants to sell in one more language and does not want inconsistent terms or broken markup.
Usually starts when: Built-in machine translation exists, but you want one language done consistently with your own terms and checked by someone who speaks it.
The result: Up to 100 products are translated into one language using your glossary. Scripts check that every glossary term is consistent and that markup and placeholders are intact. A native reader you name scores a 40-snippet sample, and return and tax wording is flagged for your adviser rather than translated by us.

How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
A script finds every glossary term translated the same way in all 100 products (100% consistent).
Evidence: The consistency report.
A script finds every HTML tag and placeholder intact in every translated field.
Evidence: The markup report.
Your named native reader picks 40 snippets after seeing the full file and scores each acceptable or not; at least 36 of 40 are acceptable (a true rate of at least 78% with 95% confidence). One snippet with a wrong number, size, unit or price, or a reversed meaning, fails the whole test.
Evidence: The 40 snippets with your reader's scores and the list of severe errors checked.
All return, tax and legal wording is flagged and left untranslated.
Evidence: The list of flagged wording.
Sign-off. You re-run the acceptance checks with the steps we hand over, read the results and sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.
If it fails. If an agreed check fails, you do not pay for this fixed scope. We hand over what we found and agree whether to stop or re-quote; no surprise work.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- You can export products as CSV
- You supply a glossary, or accept a draft one for approval
- A native reader you name can score a 40-snippet sample; if you have none, a supplier reader, quoted extra, can score it
- The target language is agreed before work
We stop and tell you if
- No native reader can score the sample
- You want legal, tax or return terms translated by us
- The aim is volume for search rather than reading by customers
- The language needs a script we cannot check
What could go wrong
The job works on copies of files you send and returns files and a report. Nothing in your store or helpdesk is changed by us, so there is nothing to undo. Our copies of your files are deleted when the job ends.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Meaning is wrong in a way scripts cannot see. | A native reader you name scores a sample, and a miss on the pass mark fails the job. |
| Return or tax wording is mistranslated. | That wording is flagged and left in the source language for your adviser. |
| Markup breaks on import. | A script checks tags and placeholders in every field. |
A separate automated reviewer checks the work and the test results before hand-over. Your native reader scores the sample and your named person imports the file; if you have no native reader, a supplier reader named in the quote scores the sample, and they are not a supervisor of ours. No human supervisor from us is included unless your agreement names one, and at launch the work is largely automated.
How we deliver
We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.
- Agree the language, glossary and reader
- Receive the product export and approve the glossary
- Translate each product with the glossary applied throughout
- Run script checks on terms, markup and leftover source text
- Your reader scores a 40-snippet sample; a separate automated reviewer checks the rest
- Hand over the file, reports and flags
This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, price, start window and delivery date in writing before you accept, and work starts only after the agreed inputs are in place. An enquiry creates no charge or booking.
Need to keep it working?
Discuss a second language, or translating each new batch of products.
Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.
Mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.
What you can check
This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.
Other ways to get this done
- Use the translation tool built into your Shopify admin, then have a native speaker read it.
Questions
Which languages?
One per job. We confirm the language and the reader before you pay anything.
Do you translate my returns policy?
No. We flag it for your adviser.
Who is the native reader?
A person you name. If you have none, a supplier reader named in the quote scores the sample, quoted extra.
Does a pass mean it will be right next month?
No. A pass describes items like the test sample on the day of the test. It is not a promise about future items, and it does not replace your own checking.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- The target language and how many products
- Whether you have a glossary and brand terms to keep
- Who could read a sample in that language
- No store login
Later, once you agree
- The product export through an agreed secure route
- Your glossary, approved by you
- The reader's name, or the quoted supplier option
You keep your store, your helpdesk and every login. We work on the files you send through a secure route agreed after you say yes, and hand back files and a report. We never ask for store or helpdesk logins, and nothing goes live until your named person applies it.
