Job store-product-copy-from-supplier-facts-with-trace · revised 12 October 2026
Write product descriptions from your supplier data, with every fact traced to its column
Descriptions for up to 100 products written only from your supplier sheet, each sentence tagged with its source column, delivered as an import file you can dry-run.
You might be seeing
- Listings are one line long or copied from the supplier
- A generated description once mentioned a feature the product lacks
No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.
What usually happened
Thin supplier data tempts a writer or a tool to fill the gaps with plausible facts. Those inventions become claims on your product pages. Free tools write copy but do not show where each fact came from.
Who it’s for: Owner of a store with hundreds of thin supplier listings who wants descriptions that never state more than the supplier sheet supports.
Usually starts when: Your supplier sheet gives only a title and a few columns per product, and you need real descriptions without invented details.
The result: Descriptions for up to 100 products are written only from your supplier sheet, with each sentence tagged to the column it came from. You get them as an import file that a dry run on a test store changes only in the description and SEO columns.

What you get
- The descriptions
- The trace file, sentence by sentence
- The overlap report
- The import file
- The dry-run diff
Included
- Up to 100 products from one supplier sheet you send
- One description per product, written only from the sheet's columns
- Each sentence tagged with its source column in a separate trace file
- A report of sentence overlap between products, against a threshold fixed in the quote (by default, no two descriptions share more than 30% of their sentences)
- An import file, dry-run on a test store you own
Not included
- Importing into your live store
- Facts that are not in your sheet, including guessed sizes or materials
- Product photography or alt text
- SEO ranking promises
- Health, safety or regulated claims
- More than 100 products without a quote
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
For 30 products you pick from the 100 after the files are delivered, every number and spec in the description matches a cell in the supplier sheet, and every sentence states only what its tagged column says. One invented number, spec, feature, material, size, use or claim fails the whole test.
Evidence: The trace file for the 30 products.
The overlap report shows sentence overlap between products under the threshold stated in the quote (by default, no two descriptions share more than 30% of their sentences).
Evidence: The report and the quote.
A dry-run import on your test store changes only the description and SEO columns.
Evidence: The import diff.
Every sentence in all descriptions has a source column in the trace file.
Evidence: A count of sentences against trace rows.
Sign-off. You re-run the acceptance checks with the steps we hand over, read the results and sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.
If it fails. If an agreed check fails, you do not pay for this fixed scope. We hand over what we found and agree whether to stop or re-quote; no surprise work.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- Your supplier's terms let you reuse their data for your own listings; you confirm this
- The sheet has enough columns to say something true about each product
- You own a test store or can make a copy for the dry run
- A named person picks 30 products to check
We stop and tell you if
- The sheet is too thin to say anything true, so we list what is missing instead
- The aim is a large volume of near-identical pages for search
- The supplier's terms do not allow the reuse
- You want facts added that are not in the sheet
What could go wrong
We change a test store or test account only. Nothing is switched on in your live store or helpdesk by us. Your named person applies the result and can switch it off again with the steps we hand over.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| A sentence states something not in the sheet. | Each sentence is traced to a column by a separate automated reviewer, and an untraceable sentence is removed. |
| Many pages end up near-identical, which search engines can treat as low value. | The overlap report is checked against a threshold fixed in the quote. |
| The supplier's terms forbid reuse. | You confirm the terms before work; we do not judge them. |
A separate automated reviewer checks the work and the test results before hand-over. Your named person approves the copy and imports the file. No human supervisor from us is included unless your agreement names one, and at launch the work is largely automated.
How we deliver
We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.
- Agree the products, sheet columns, overlap threshold and approved columns
- Receive the supplier sheet and set up the test store import
- Write each description from its row only, tagging every sentence
- Check every number and spec against its cell, and the overlap report
- Dry-run the import; a separate automated reviewer checks everything
- Hand over descriptions, trace and import file; you import after your check
This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, price, start window and delivery date in writing before you accept, and work starts only after the agreed inputs are in place. An enquiry creates no charge or booking.
Need to keep it working?
Discuss descriptions for the next supplier sheet you add.
Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.
Mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.
What you can check
This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.
Other ways to get this done
- Write the descriptions yourself, or with a free tool, and check each fact against the sheet.
- Ask the supplier for their own descriptions, if their terms allow you to reuse them.
Questions
Is it fine to use my supplier's data?
That depends on their terms. You confirm it before work starts.
Will you add facts not in the sheet?
No. A product with too little data is listed so you can ask the supplier for more.
Do you label the copy as AI-written?
Whether and how you must label AI-written text is for your adviser. Google asks for it in product feeds.
Does a pass mean it will be right next month?
No. A pass describes items like the test sample on the day of the test. It is not a promise about future items, and it does not replace your own checking.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- A few sample rows of the supplier sheet, with prices removed if you prefer
- How many products, and which columns the sheet has
- The tone of your current best listing, as an example
- No store login
Later, once you agree
- The full supplier sheet through an agreed secure route
- A test store or copy of your product import
- The overlap threshold you accept
- The name of the person who approves the copy
You keep your store, your helpdesk and every login. We work on the files you send through a secure route agreed after you say yes, and hand back files and a report. We never ask for store or helpdesk logins, and nothing goes live until your named person applies it.
