The invented spreadsheet
This spreadsheet is synthetic. It holds three posts for a pretend business called Harbour Bakes, written for this example, with no real person or customer in it. The image links point nowhere real, and Webflow does not map a link that does not open to an image field. The first line is the headings, and every later line becomes one item.
Notice that row two writes its date as 03/04/2026. That could be the third of April or the fourth of March, and the import cannot know which unless the mapping says.
If the matrix is wider than the box, scroll horizontally to read every column. Keyboard: focus the matrix and use Left/Right.

Each column is mapped to a field and the rule for it is written down before any import is run. The table below is what a reviewer approves.
If the matrix is wider than the box, scroll horizontally to read every column. Keyboard: focus the matrix and use Left/Right.
column -> field type rule to check
title -> Name text required; no stray spaces
slug -> Slug text lowercase and unique; row 2 'Opening-Hours' must become 'opening-hours'
published -> Published on date state DD/MM/YYYY HH:mm; sample 3 dates afterwards
featured -> Featured true/false say that Yes means true and No means false
author -> Author reference Webflow: author slug; Wix: author item ID; fill the authors first
image -> Image image link Webflow: public link into an Image field, no responsive variants; Wix: only files already in the media manager
body -> Body rich text HTML paragraphs; check on screenWhat the four traps show
The date shows why the format must be stated. The slug in row two has capital letters and would not match a lowercase address. The author column shows that a link to another item must match how the builder finds it: Webflow turns plain text into a slug to look for a match and skips the value if there is none, while Wix expects the other item's ID. The image column shows that builders treat image links differently: Webflow's Image field takes a public link, Wix takes only files already in its media manager, and Webflow's File field is never filled by an import.
A careful mapping lists these before the import, not after the first failed attempt.
- Fill the authors collection before importing posts.
- Normalise slugs to lowercase in the cleaned file.
- Keep a list of the Wix images and any Webflow files that need upload.
What the checks look like, and a priced route
After the final import, the collection should hold exactly three new items. Titles, slugs and dates are compared across all rows, the three dates are read on screen, and the Featured flags are compared with the sheet. The example is a method illustration and not a result for any client.
The fixed-scope import of up to 200 rows into one Webflow or Wix collection is priced at £245 as an untested proposal and paid only after you sign off. Send the headings and two example rows with personal data removed, never the whole file or any logins.
Sources and limits
- Wix: importing content into a CMS collection Checked 2026-10-11.
- The date format used in the file must be stated, boolean values must be defined, reference fields use item IDs, and image fields import only if they link to files already in the media manager.
- Webflow: how do I import content into the Webflow CMS Checked 2026-10-11.
- Columns map by matching header names, reference text is turned into a slug to match an item, Image and Multi-image fields take direct public image URLs without responsive variants, and file fields are not filled by import.
