Project
Move your product catalogue to Shopify and have it checked before launch
We turn your product export into Shopify files, prove them on a test store, and after you import for real we compare the live products and redirects with the source before you launch.
This asks for a proposal by email. Nothing is charged, and nothing starts, until you have agreed the scope, the price and the terms in writing.
The result you are buying
A catalogue move is more than one upload. The products must be reshaped for Shopify's model, the import must be tested before it touches the real store, old product addresses need somewhere to go, and the first live products must be compared with the source or errors reach customers at launch.
Who it’s for: Owner of a WooCommerce or Magento store moving the product catalogue to Shopify, who wants the products, options and old addresses checked rather than trusting a bare import.
Usually starts when: You have chosen Shopify and need the catalogue on it by a launch date without losing variants, images or the old product addresses.
The result: The live Shopify products match the source catalogue in counts and sampled values, the redirect list reaches the right new products, and the launch checks you chose have been run, all shown with evidence you can inspect.
How the work fits together
The project is complete when the post-import comparison shows the live Shopify products matching the source apart from items you chose to exclude, the redirect results are recorded, and you accept the launch checklist. You accept the finished catalogue move, not each internal step.
Turn a WooCommerce or Magento product export into a Shopify-ready import file Job Included
Your product export becomes a Shopify product file and a matching redirect file, proved by an import on a test store with counts and sampled values matching the source.
One catalogue of up to 300 products
Put products back after a Shopify CSV import overwrote them Job Each time it fires
A corrective product file and change report restore the fields and variants an import replaced or blanked, proved on a test store that first shows the same damage, before you touch the live one.
Used if your live import changes existing products you did not mean to change.
After: Product export to Shopify file
Fix Shopify products rejected for missing brand identifiers Job Optional
The agreed products submit truthful brand and identifier fields and show no brand/identifier errors in the next Merchant Center item diagnostic; Google approval is not guaranteed.
Used if you sell through a Google Merchant Center product feed.
After: Product export to Shopify file
Bring Shopify stock levels back in line with the system you sync them with Job Optional
For an agreed set of products at one location, Shopify stock matches your other system under a written rule, proved on a test store and a copy of the other system, with a test sale reducing both once.
Used if stock on the new store is synced with another system you control.
After: Product export to Shopify file
Make a Shopify discount code apply exactly as you intended Job Optional
Each shopping basket on your list gets the discount, or the refusal, you specify on a test store, with the exact settings written down for you to apply.
Used for a launch promotion you want checked on a test store.
After: Product export to Shopify file
Get Shopify abandoned checkout emails sending to the shoppers who qualify Job Optional
Three test checkouts you run with your own email, each stopping before payment, give the expected result, a recovery email with a working link or none, and the settings behind them are written down.
Used to check recovery emails on the new store with your own test checkouts.
After: Product export to Shopify file
How an engagement works
The price covers the agreed catalogue and the launch checks you chose. Extra products, other platforms and customer or order moves are quoted separately.
How it starts
You tell us the source platform, the number of products and your launch date.
We read the export headers and propose the scope, the optional launch checks and a fixed price.
You agree the scope, price and terms in writing. Nothing starts before then.
We build the files, prove them on your test store and send you the comparison.
You import to your live store and send a product export and the redirect results; we compare them and finish the launch checklist.
Who decides what
You decide how products with more than three options are handled and accept each result. You run every live import and change under your own account.
Handover
You receive the files, the comparison, the decision list and the launch checklist. Anything left open is handed back with notes.
Sharing your product safely. Send the export with customer data removed, by the agreed secure route. Never send store logins, keys or customer records by ordinary email.
What is included, and what is not
- The mapping sheet, the product file and the redirect file
- The test-store comparison and the post-import comparison against the source
- A list of products that needed a decision and what was chosen
- A launch checklist covering redirects, stock, discounts and recovery emails as agreed
- Steps for each live import and how to undo it
Included
- One catalogue of up to 300 products moving from one WooCommerce or Magento store to one Shopify store
- The mapping, the Shopify product file and the redirect file, proved on a test store
- A comparison of the live Shopify products, using an export you take after your import, with the source
- The launch checks you choose from the optional components, run on your test or live store as each describes
Not included
- Customers, historic orders, reviews, gift cards and coupon codes
- Theme design, app setup, payments and tax settings
- Moving the domain or any ranking promise
- Running the live import, which you do under your own account
- Catalogues over about 300 products or from other platforms, which are quoted after we see the export
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
The live Shopify store has the same number of products and variants as the source, apart from items you chose to exclude
Evidence: Counts from the source, the product file and the live export
Twenty sampled products, including every product with options, match the source in title, options, SKU, price and image count
Evidence: A side-by-side table for each sampled product, from the live export
The redirect results you recorded for the agreed old addresses show the intended new product each time
Evidence: Your list of tested addresses and the destinations they reached
Each optional launch check you chose has a recorded result
Evidence: The launch checklist with a result for each check
Sign-off. You accept each result, or send it back with comments, and then you accept the finished catalogue move.
If it fails. An item we cannot move cleanly is named with the reason and what it would take, and the price is adjusted to match. Nothing is billed as delivered that you have not accepted.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- You can send a product export from the store you are leaving, with no customer data
- Images are at public addresses that stay online until the import has run
- You can create a test store and run imports on it and on the live Shopify store
- Someone on your side can decide how to merge or split products that need more than three options
We stop and tell you if
- The catalogue is much larger than 300 products or uses custom fields we cannot map without a design decision
- Most products need more than three options and nobody can decide how to handle them
- The export has no product codes and cannot be matched to anything
- You need a launch date that cannot allow a test import and a post-import comparison
What could go wrong
Nothing changes on the store you are leaving. The live steps say to export Shopify products before every import, so each import can be undone with that export, and the redirect list is exported before changes.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| The live import does not match the test import | The live products are exported and compared with the source, and differences are corrected with a targeted file. |
| Redirects send old addresses to the wrong pages | Each redirect target is checked against a product handle on the test store, and you test the most visited old addresses after launch and record what they show. |
| Customer or order data is sent to us | We ask for product columns only, tell you which columns to remove, and delete files after sign-off. |
Each file and comparison is reviewed separately from the work that produced it, and a sample of products is compared across the source, the file and both Shopify exports. No human supervisor is included unless your proposal names one. At launch the work is largely automated, and we say so.
Stays with a person
- You decide products that need more than three options
- You run each live import and redirect import
Access we would need
- A product export from the source store, product columns only
- A test Shopify store you own
- A product export from the live Shopify store after your import
Questions
Will you import into my live Shopify store?
No. You run the live import. We send the files and steps, and compare the result with the source afterwards.
Can you guarantee my search ranking?
No. We provide a redirect file and a way to check the most visited old addresses. We do not promise any ranking result.
What about customers and orders?
They are outside this project. Shopify moves them by different routes, which we can scope separately.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- Which platform and version you are leaving, and the number of products and variants
- The first ten rows of the export, with prices and customer data removed if any
- Your launch date and which launch checks you want
- Whether you sell through a product feed to a shopping channel
- Whether stock is kept in step with another system
Later, once you agree
- The full product export, sent by the agreed secure route
- A test Shopify store you create and own
- After your live import, a product export of the live Shopify store, product columns only, and a short list of old addresses you tested and what they showed
You keep both stores and all logins. We work from export files and your test store, and you run the live import, the redirect import and any launch change under your own account.
