Standing service content-decay-list-from-search-console-every-month · revised 12 October 2026
Standing service
Get a monthly list of pages losing traffic, with the queries behind each
Each month you get pages whose clicks or impressions fell, competing pairs and one proposed action each, recomputed from your Search Console export. We publish nothing.
This starts a conversation by email. Nothing is charged, and nothing is run on your data, until we have agreed scope, access and terms with you in writing.
The responsibility you hand over
Page traffic decays a little every month and the signal is buried in the export. By the time the drop is visible in the totals, the cause has been there for months. Nobody has time to compare periods page by page.
Who it’s for: Owner or marketer of a site with service pages and a blog who wants early warning of decay.
Usually starts when: A one-off list was useful and the decay has continued since.
The result: Every month you receive pages whose clicks or impressions fell, competing pairs and one proposed action each, recomputed from your Search Console export. We publish nothing.
What stays true, and what we do about it
No response-time guarantee is published for this new service. A target for delivering each list or record is agreed in writing before it starts, set to what a service at this stage can actually keep.
Hours are agreed in writing before the service starts. At launch the service is not staffed round the clock and runs on the cycle named here.
What must remain true
- Each month every page whose clicks or impressions fell beyond the agreed threshold is listed with query evidence
- Every listed URL has its status code and indexability checked and shown, and any that fails is flagged first
What we watch
- The monthly Search Console export
- The public site
When something happens
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| When | What we do |
|---|---|
| A month closes and the export is available. | We send the list and the pairs. Linked job: Pages losing traffic, with a proposed action |
| Two pages compete for the same query for two months. | We flag the pair and propose merge, redirect or leave. |
| A listed URL no longer returns 200. | We flag it first in the list. |
| The same page decays three months running. | We list it next, with its history. |
We do on our own
- Read the agreed exports and compare them
- Prepare the list and the summary
- Offer a fixed job as a next step
We ask you first
- Any change to a rule, a threshold or the data covered
- Any request for wider access to a system
- Starting any fix, merge, send or write
We escalate to you when
- Clicks fall across most pages in a month
- The export stops being available
- You tell us that a manual action notice has appeared in Search Console
How you know it held. Each month you can recompute the change for 20 listed pages you choose from the export and find no mismatch.
How we keep it true
This service is never finished. Each period's record shows whether the thing it watches stayed true, and it continues until you end it.
See which pages are losing traffic and what to do with each Job Optional
A list of pages whose clicks or impressions fell, with query-level evidence, pairs of pages competing for one query, and one proposed action each. We publish nothing.
Bought separately; not part of the monthly fee
The one-off decay list.
Give your writer a proper brief for each page you should write Job Optional
Up to ten briefs, each with a target query from your own export, intent, headings, sources with working links and claims not to make. We write and publish no article.
Bought separately; not part of the monthly fee
Briefs for a human writer to replace or refresh a page.
Link up to 300 pages from related pages so none is left orphaned Job Optional
For up to 300 URLs, a crawl against your page list shows no orphan and at least the agreed number of contextual links into each page. Every link is one you ticked.
Bought separately; not part of the monthly fee
Internal links for orphaned or weak pages.
What is included, and what is not
- The monthly list with evidence
- The competing pairs
- The action per page
- The reconciliation of pages analysed to export rows
Included
- One site and one Search Console export each month
- A comparison with the same period last month, and last year when your export reaches back that far
- The list of decaying pages with their queries, and competing pairs
- One proposed action per page, citing the query data
- A status check on every listed URL
Not included
- Writing or publishing any page
- A ranking or traffic promise
- Bulk pages made for search
- Backlink work
- Data other than the Search Console export
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
Your named person recomputes the change for 20 listed pages they choose and finds 0 mismatches, which shows a mismatch rate under about 14% with 95% confidence.
Evidence: The 20 recomputed values and your person's marks.
Every listed URL has its status code and indexability checked and shown, any URL that does not return 200 or is not indexable is flagged at the top of the list, and each action cites query data.
Evidence: The status check and the action column.
Pages analysed equal export rows after the stated exclusions.
Evidence: The count reconciliation.
Sign-off. You read each monthly list and tell us whether the rules, thresholds and test set still suit you. A period counts as delivered when you have received the record.
If it fails. If we cannot complete a period because an input is missing or has changed shape, we say so, explain what we need and do not guess. If the service is not working for you, you can end it at the end of any month.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- At least six months of Search Console data
- A named person decides about each page
- The export holds no personal data
We stop and tell you if
- You want bulk pages written and published by us
- You want a ranking promise
- No one acts on the lists for three months
What could go wrong
The service only reads and reports, so there is nothing to undo.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| The list is read as a ranking promise | It says plainly that no ranking is promised. |
| A hunch becomes a deletion | Each action cites query data and "leave" is a valid action. |
| AI pages flood the site | We publish nothing and stop if you want bulk pages written. |
A separate automated reviewer checks each monthly list before it is sent, and no person on our side reviews unless your agreement names one. Your named person decides about each page and publishes any change. At launch the work is largely automated, and we say so.
Stays with a person
- You decide about every page
- You publish any change
Access we would need
- A Search Console export you generate
Questions
Is this the same as the one-off list?
It is the same list each month, with last month's comparison.
Do you write content?
No. We publish nothing.
Do you promise rankings?
No. We list pages and propose actions; rankings are not ours to promise.
Send an enquiry
Send us
- Changes to the site last month
- Pages you care about most
- Who reads the list
Later, once you agree
- The monthly Search Console export
- A list of existing pages
- A secure handoff route agreed before the export is shared
You keep Search Console and the site. We read an export you generate and the public site, and change nothing.
