Managed lane people-operations-lane · revised 12 October 2026
Managed lane
Keep the handbook and its staff answers right every month, plus one people-admin task
For one handbook: a monthly re-test of handbook answers and a scan for contradictions, plus one bounded people-admin item a month, always drafted for your named person. Proposed GBP 395 a month.
An enquiry starts a fit and scope conversation, not a contract, payment or reserved place. No logins, personal data or account invitations initially.
What the lane takes off your plate
The handbook changes, and the answers staff were given go stale. Starter lists, training chasers and survey comments are kept by hand or not at all. Nobody owns the monthly check, so contradictions surface when someone relies on the wrong rule.
Who it’s for: Owner or office manager of a firm of 20 to 200 people, with no HR team and a handbook, starter list and inbox of staff questions kept up by hand.
Usually starts when: The handbook changed again, the same questions keep landing in one inbox, and nobody has time to keep the people paperwork consistent.
The result: For one handbook, each month you receive a re-run of your handbook test, a scan of changed sections for contradictions and expired dates, and up to one bounded people-admin item chosen from a listed set. Every output is a draft or a list for your named person. Nothing is sent to staff or candidates by us, and no decision about a person is made.
What stays true, and what we do about it
No response-time guarantee is published for this new service. Timing and monthly capacity are agreed in writing before it starts.
Hours are agreed in writing before the lane starts. At launch it is not staffed round the clock and runs on the monthly cycle in the proposal.
What must remain true
- The handbook assistant's test sheet still passes on the current handbook, with every must-refuse question still refused or handed to your named person
- Contradictions and expired dates in changed handbook sections are listed in each monthly report
- Every output about people is a draft or a list for your named person, and none is sent by us
What we watch
- The current handbook files, supplied each month
- The agreed test sheet and its labels
- Redacted exports for the chosen item
When something happens
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| When | What we do |
|---|---|
| A question that must be refused is now answered. | We put it first in the report and suggest the refusal wording to restore. |
| The handbook changes in a way that moves or removes a quoted section. | We list the affected answers for your HR owner. Linked job: Handbook contradictions report |
| A new hiring round or survey closes. | We offer the matching listed item as the month's item. Linked job: Interview notes collated |
We do on our own
- Re-run the test sheet and the scans
- Prepare reports, lists and drafts for your named person
- Offer a listed job as a next step
We ask you first
- Any change to the refusal list or the named person
- Adding a question to the held-back part of the test sheet
- Using any data about a named person
We escalate to you when
- A must-refuse question is answered in any run
- An answer states a policy that is not in the handbook
- Anyone asks for a score, ranking, rating or decision about a person
How you know it held. Each month the summary reports, with unknowns kept: test questions re-run, answers whose section or wording changed, refusals that held, contradictions and expired dates listed and confirmed by your HR owner, and which item was delivered and accepted. It also reports the false-finding rate on the sample your HR owner checks.
What the lane is made of
Each item has agreed acceptance checks and an accept-or-revise decision. One a month is a ceiling, not a completion guarantee. The arrangement continues only under agreed renewal terms.
Keep the handbook assistant tested and the handbook consistent every month Standing service Included
Each month we re-run the 100-question handbook test on the current handbook, scan the changes for contradictions and expired dates, and report which answers or refusals changed.

As a month's item, for example before starting the monthly check
The one-off version, at its listed price. Within the GBP 300 allowance.
Have each month's expense claims checked against your written policy, with flags quoted Standing service Optional

Added at its listed monthly price of GBP 99; not in the allowance
Checks each claim against your written policy and flags it for your approver. It looks at claims, not people.
How an engagement works
One handbook, one active item at a time and at most one agreed item a month, worth up to GBP 300 at its listed one-off price; the optional monthly expense-claims service is separate. One is a ceiling, not a guaranteed completion or a fixed turnaround. Timing, the monthly test day and capacity are confirmed in writing; none is promised on this page.
How it starts
You send the handbook details and your response to the proposed monthly price, without staff data.
We confirm fit, the redaction route, who approves outputs and which paperwork comes first.
We agree the monthly scope, the test day, the first items, the price, the payment terms and the cancellation terms in writing.
Each month we send the handbook report, deliver the chosen item and send the summary.
Who decides what
Your named HR owner chooses items, approves wording and accepts each item. Anything sent to staff or candidates is sent by you.
Handover
Each item arrives as a file, sheet or draft with its evidence. Unfinished items are handed back with notes if the arrangement ends.
Sharing your product safely. Initial contact uses the handbook's page count and your list of paperwork. No staff data, logins or account invitations. Redacted files follow only after a secure route and written terms.

What you get to see
The customer deliverable is the running result and its evidence, not a pull request. The pull request stays an internal record.
- Request. Your request, as we understood it
- Agreed checks. The agreed checks that define done
- Test results. Test results against each check
- Independent review. An independent review and what it found
- Known limits. What it does not cover
- Acceptance. Your accept or change request
How we know it’s done
Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.
Each month the handbook test is re-run on the current handbook and every answer whose section or wording changed is listed.
Evidence: The monthly test result and changed-answers list.
Every question that must be refused or handed over is still refused or handed over, in each of three runs.
Evidence: The run sheets for those questions.
Each month no more than one extra item (not counting the optional monthly expense service) was delivered or started, its listed one-off price is no more than GBP 300, and nothing was sent to staff or candidates by us.
Evidence: The monthly summary and your own mail records.
Sign-off. Your HR owner reads each report, accepts or sends back each item and reads the monthly summary.
If it fails. A blocker is raised with a substitute item, revised timing or a stop. Work that does not meet its checks is not claimed as delivered. Billing for incomplete work is agreed before starting.
When it fits, and when we stop
It fits when
- A current handbook with one named owner
- A named HR owner who approves wording, refusals and each item
- Data sent is redacted by you: names replaced by codes and no health details
- Staff questions are not logged beyond test windows unless your data protection lead approves
We stop and tell you if
- The agreed items regularly exceed one a month or GBP 300 of listed jobs, so we agree a different scope
- Anyone asks the lane to decide about a person or to answer individual cases
- Nobody owns the handbook or approves outputs
What could go wrong
The lane reads files and writes reports and drafts. We change nothing in your systems, so ending it leaves everything as it is and you keep every report.
Scroll the table sideways to read it all.
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| An output is used to decide something about a person. | Every output is a draft or list for your named person, none scores or ranks anyone, and the lane stops if asked to. |
| Employment or health data reaches us. | You redact before sending, health details are excluded, and the data path is written into the proposal first. |
| The allowance is read as unlimited help. | The proposal states one bounded item a month worth up to GBP 300 at its listed price; larger or extra work is quoted. |
| A handbook change makes a staff answer wrong without anyone noticing. | The full test is re-run monthly and every changed answer is listed. |
A separate automated reviewer checks every report and draft against its agreed test before it is sent. No person on our side reviews unless your proposal names one. Your named HR owner decides what to do with each finding.
Stays with a person
- Your HR owner approves every output that is used
- You send anything that goes to staff or candidates
- You make every decision about a person
Access we would need
- The handbook files and redacted exports that you send
- No access to personnel records, calendars, inboxes or any live system
Questions
Is this an HR service?
No. It keeps a handbook, its tested answers and some people paperwork consistent. It gives no HR or legal advice and decides nothing about any person.
Can I buy the parts separately?
Yes. Every service and job listed is available on its own. The proposed lane price is the monthly handbook service plus the allowance, so it adds one arrangement with a test day and monthly capacity confirmed in writing, not a discount.
Will it deal with candidates or appraisals?
It can lay out facts for your recruiter or collate interviewers' notes. It does not handle appraisals, and it never scores, ranks, filters or recommends anyone.
Does it message my staff?
No. You send everything.
Start a conversation
Send us
- The handbook's page count and how often it changes
- The people paperwork you most want kept in order
- Your response to the proposed monthly price
Later, once you agree
- Each month: the current handbook files through an agreed secure route
- Redacted data for the chosen item
- The name of the HR owner and a backup
You keep every file, every decision and every message. We work on redacted copies and exports you send, and hold no access to your systems or personnel records. Before real personal data is shared, the written proposal names the model provider, its country and retention.
