Job store-personalised-offers-with-a-disclosure-line-and-a-price-log · revised 12 October 2026

Show different offers or prices to different customers, with a disclosure line and a log

Rules you write decide which customers see which offer or price. Every personalised price carries a visible disclosure line, and a log records each price shown and the rule behind it.

You might be seeing

  • Offers go to a few customers by hand and nobody records who saw what
  • You are unsure whether a personalised price needs a notice

No passwords, keys, card details or admin invites needed to start.

What usually happened

Showing different prices to different people can break consumer-law rules on disclosure, and it can look unfair to customers who compare notes. Rules hidden in a model's prompt cannot be audited. Without a log of what each customer was shown, nobody can answer a complaint.

Who it’s for: Owner of a store with repeat customers who wants to reward some of them with a different offer or price, and to show exactly what each one saw.

Usually starts when: You want loyalty or first-order offers beyond a single discount code, but you worry how it looks to customers and to a regulator.

The result: Rules you write in a plain list, using only fields you approve, decide which customers see which offer or price. Every personalised price shows a visible disclosure line, no price is above your ceiling, and a log records every price shown with the rule behind it.

What you get

  • The rule list and the approved field list
  • The offer and price logic, as code
  • Two draft disclosure lines for your lawyer to approve or replace
  • The log format and a sample log
  • The test results and the off-switch note

Included

  • Up to five rules, each using only fields on an approved field list, such as order count, cart value or first order
  • A price ceiling you set; the default is the public price
  • A visible disclosure line beside every personalised price, in wording your own lawyer approves
  • A log row for every price shown: time, customer reference, approved field values, price, rule version, ceiling and whether the disclosure line was shown
  • A switch that turns personalisation off and shows the public price to everyone
  • Built and tested on a test store with invented customers; your named person installs it

Not included

  • Using age, health, disability, ethnicity, religion, financial hardship or any inferred vulnerability
  • Using data from outside your own store, or competitor data
  • Legal approval of the disclosure wording: your lawyer approves it
  • Prices above the ceiling you set
  • A check of which countries' or states' rules apply to you
  • Predicting what a customer will pay

How we know it’s done

Agreed with you before work starts. Each check produces evidence you keep.

  1. Across 200 generated smoke cases and 100 buyer-held invented-order replays, every price equals the expected written-rule result and none exceeds the ceiling; every rule has at least one case where it applies and one where it does not. Any wrong price or ceiling breach fails this check.

Evidence: The test log and the rule list.

  2. Every personalised price in the tests carries the disclosure line, and a price with no matching rule shows the public price with no line.

    Evidence: The test log.

  3. Two customers with identical approved fields see the identical price in all 100 pairs tested.

    Evidence: The pair test results.

  4. A rule that tries to read a field not on the approved list is refused in all 3 attempts.

    Evidence: The refusal log.

  5. The log has one row for every price shown in the tests, each with its rule, and the off switch shows the public price to everyone on the next request.

Evidence: The log row count and the off-switch test.

Sign-off. You re-run the acceptance checks with the steps we hand over, read the results and sign off in writing. Payment follows sign-off.

If it fails. If an agreed check fails, you do not pay for this scope. We hand over what we found and agree whether to stop or re-quote; no surprise work.

When it fits, and when we stop

It fits when

  • A written list of the fields you may use, approved by whoever handles data protection for you
  • A privacy notice that already covers those fields
  • A lawyer or adviser who approves the disclosure wording before go-live
  • A store where offers can be applied by customer or segment

We stop and tell you if

  • You want rules based on protected characteristics, health or financial hardship
  • You want to charge any customer more than the public price without a ceiling set in writing
  • Nobody will approve the disclosure wording
  • You want the log switched off or kept from your own adviser

What could go wrong

Your person can turn the logic off at once so everyone sees the public price. The log stays with you. Our copies of your files are deleted when the job ends.

Scroll the table sideways to read it all.

RiskHow we handle it
A personalised price is shown without the notice that may be required. The test fails if any personalised price shows without the disclosure line, and your lawyer approves the wording, not us.
A rule uses a field that should not be used.Rules read only fields on the approved list; the test tries three other fields and each must be refused.
Customers who compare notes see different prices and lose trust. The default ceiling is the public price, so personalisation means offers below it, and the log lets you explain any price.
Pricing strays into discrimination or competition problems. No protected or inferred fields and no outside or competitor data. We give no legal advice.

A separate automated reviewer checks the work and the test results before hand-over. Your lawyer or adviser approves the disclosure wording, and your named person approves the rule list, installs it and holds the off switch. No human supervisor from us is included unless your agreement names one, and at launch the work is largely automated.

How we deliver

We arrange the work and independent review, then show you the result against the agreed checks. You keep authority over your systems.

  • Agree the rule list, approved fields, ceiling and who approves the wording
  • Build the logic on a test store with invented customers
  • Add the disclosure line and the price log to every personalised price
  • Run the generated and replayed tests; fix and rerun any failure
  • Review separately and rehearse the off switch
  • Hand over; your person installs it and switches it on

This is a one-off job, not emergency cover or a subscription. We confirm eligibility, price, start window and delivery date in writing before you accept, and work starts only after the agreed inputs are in place. An enquiry creates no charge or booking.

Need to keep it working?

Discuss the monthly log audit once the rules have run for a month.

Ongoing work is separately scoped and quoted: no monitoring, response-time guarantee or automatic subscription is included in this job.

Mention the responsibility you need in your enquiry.

What you can check

This is a new service. We have not delivered this job for a client yet.

Other ways to get this done

  • Use discount codes or a loyalty app from your platform and publish the terms.
  • Offer the same discount to every customer who meets a public condition.

Questions

Is this legal where I sell?

We give no legal advice. Your lawyer decides the wording and whether personalised prices suit the places you sell to.

Can it raise prices for some customers?

Only if you set a higher ceiling in writing. The default ceiling is the public price, and the disclosure line shows on every personalised price.

Does a model pick the prices?

No. Your written rules decide, in plain code. Where a model helps it only drafts text for you to approve.

Does a pass mean it will be right next month?

No. A pass describes items like the test sample on the day of the test. It is not a promise about future items, and it does not replace your own checking.

Send an enquiry

Send us

  • The kinds of offer you have in mind
  • The fields you would use, in plain words
  • Where you sell, by country and state
  • Your platform
  • No logins, keys, customer data or payment details in the first enquiry

Later, once you agree

  • The approved field list and rule list, in writing
  • A test store with invented customers; you hold 100 replay cases and expected prices unseen until acceptance, and replace any cases used for fixes
  • The disclosure wording approved by your lawyer
  • The name of the person who installs it and holds the off switch

You keep your store and every login. We build on a test store with invented customers and no real customer data, and hand over the logic and the log format. Your named person installs it and holds the off switch, and the log you keep holds a customer reference, not a name.
